Paparelli & Partners LLP greatly values its relationships with its corporate and individual clients. In keeping with our fiduciary obligations and professional commitments to clients, we strive to improve our quality, efficiency and speed of delivery of legal services. In furtherance of these objectives, our firm has established a global operation to leverage the various efficiencies that come with having a 24x7 support workforce situated in various parts of the globe. We also take substantial precautions in order to protect sensitive data and documents provided by our clients – not just as a matter of client confidentiality under the attorney-client privilege but also because of our role as a partner with our clients to promote their lawful business and personal objectives. We therefore adhere to the following data security and privacy policies:
- Notice: We explain to clients the limited purposes for which we collect and use information about them, namely, to pursue our clients’ lawful immigration-related legal objectives and otherwise comply with relevant law. We also comply with any reasonable requests our clients may make concerning any desired steps to limit the use and disclosure of client data and documents. Clients and related individuals may contact the firm, through its Managing Partner (Angelo A. Paparelli) and/or its Law Firm Administrator (Gina R. Galassi) at any time with any questions or concerns involving data protection and privacy that they may have.
- Choice: We provide clients with the opportunity to choose (opt out) whether their personal or business information will be disclosed or used for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was originally collected or later authorized.
- Data Access and Integrity: Upon request, we provide corporate and individual clients with reasonable access to client files maintained by the firm containing client data and/or documents. Upon request, we promptly correct, amend, or delete information which clients inform us is inaccurate, unless such action would infringe on the legal rights and responsibilities of other clients or the firm. We only request of our clients business or personal information and documents that are relevant to our performance of legal services in order to help fulfill our clients’ lawful immigration-related objectives and legal compliance activities. We also take reasonable steps to ensure that data and documents we maintain are reliable for their intended use, accurate, complete, and current.
- Security: We take reasonable precautions to protect our clients’ business and personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. Our clients’ paper documents are maintained in the firm’s offices or stored offsite under secure storage procedures. Our clients’ electronic data and digital records are stored on the firm’s servers located within its offices, with regular backup precautions and maintenance of backup media in secure locations. In addition to the duty of client confidentiality imposed on lawyers under applicable statutes and state bar rules or codes of professional responsibility, all employees of the firm are required to sign a binding non-disclosure agreement prohibiting any unauthorized use, copying, maintenance or disclosure of confidential firm or client information and documents.
- Secure, Restricted Transfers of Data or Documents to Trusted Third-party Service Providers: We only transfer data or documents for purposes directly related to our clients’ objectives. From time to time, the firm may use trusted third-party service providers to provide support services in various areas including, but not limited to, information technology, drafting, docketing, workflow management, and general administration. In such cases, we have entered into written agreements with our service providers requiring that they provide the same level of privacy protection as we impose on ourselves under the firm’s data protection and privacy policies. All digital data are stored solely on our IT network within the firm’s offices in the United States. Our off-site service providers access client data exclusively through our law firm’s secure server by using technology provided by Citrix Systems, Inc. (http://www.citrix.com). These off-site service providers log into the firm’s servers via a secure link and work on all firm business on our internal firm network. This process, we believe, increases our speed and efficiency so that we are better positioned to provide an even higher level of quality and service to our clients.
