Andrew Lerner is based in the firm's New York City office. He has more than fifteen years of extensive business-related immigration experience with particular emphasis on strategic analysis and short- term and long-term immigration planning for both employers and individuals. Mr. Lerner also has substantial experience handling marriage-based cases, naturalization applications, N-600 certificate of citizenship filings, immigrant visa petitions, consular processing abroad, and case-specific issues and inquiries requiring resolution through liaison with the NY District Office of USCIS.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Mr. Lerner received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College in California in 1977, where he majored in Theater. He obtained his J.D. Degree from Fordham Law School in 1989. Following graduation, Mr. Lerner established a solo practice as an Immigration attorney in New York City. In March 1997, Mr. Lerner accepted a position with Pavia & Harcourt LLP, a distinguished, internationally-oriented boutique firm in New York City, ultimately serving as Of Counsel to the firm, in charge of their immigration practice group. He left Pavia & Harcourt in January 2006 to join Paparelli & Partners LLP.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS: American Immigration Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Lerner is a former Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA"). He has also served as a member of AILA's INS Vermont Service Center Liaison Committee, Co-Chair of NY AILA's District Director Liaison Committee, Chair of NY AILA's Corporate Practice Committee, member of NY AILA's USCIS Liaison Committee, Co-Chair of NY AILA's 8th Annual Immigration Law Symposium, and is currently serving as a member of NY AILA's Department of Labor Liaison Committee.
AWARDS AND ACCOLADES: Mr. Lerner has been selected annually for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2003, and is a featured seminar and conference speaker on immigration issues.
On a personal note, Mr. Lerner prides himself on being a "native New Yorker," having been brought up in Greenwich Village during the 1960s. A creative soul by nature, prior to practicing law he was employed as an assistant film editor (working for a 35mm trailer house), an actor (performing as a member of an Off-Broadway Repertory Company), and a singer/songwriter (performing with his own band in NYC clubs during 1980/81). Mr. Lerner was nominated for an Irene Ryan acting award in college, had a song on the dance charts in New York City in 1981, and has run in 5 New York City marathons (best time:3 hours, 20 minutes). Mr. Lerner now applies his creative juices and boundless energy in analyzing the law and developing immigration-related options tailored to the specific needs and objectives of the firm's clientele.
